As part of the implementation of its hurricane season action plan, the Port-au-Prince City Hall, in partnership with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Ministry of Public Works, distributed work tools (shovels, wheelbarrows, picks, boots, etc…) to 230 contract workers engaged in ravine cleaning work across several areas of the city.
This work aims to reduce flooding risks associated with the heavy rains expected during hurricane season by cleaning drainage channels to facilitate water flow and limit the impact on the most vulnerable neighborhoods.
The distribution took place in the presence of Deputy Mayor Guerslyn Charles, the City Hall’s External Cooperation Manager, Richard Adrien, the Head of the Municipal Engineering Department, Engineer Jocelyn Jeudy, and two IOM supervisors.
The City of Port-au-Prince thanks its partners for their technical and logistical support and reiterates its commitment to taking all necessary measures to protect the population during the hurricane season.
