iciHaiti - Training : Capacity building for 89 UDMO police officers

To strengthen the operational capabilities of the Departmental Law Enforcement Unit (UDMO/West-2) of the Haitian National Police (PNH), a series of training sessions was conducted for 89 officers from this specialized unit.

69 UDMO officers participated in a four-week session on managing public order disturbances, particularly during demonstrations and crowds.

Another 20 UDMO officers attended a session organized by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR). Respect for human rights, non-discrimination, and the proportionate use of force in conflict situations were among the topics discussed with the participants.

Finally, on July 9 and 10, 2025, 41 UDMO police officers participated in a training session conducted by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) focusing on legal and operational intervention standards.

At the end of these sessions, all officers received a certificate of participation.

It should be noted that these continuing education series are one of the priorities of Rameau Normil, Acting Director General of the PNH, which aims to strengthen the operational capabilities and professionalism of the Police Force’s specialized units.
