Our sixth story is presented by Justin Formica and Rowan Furlong from ResMed. Justin and Rowan talk about ResMed’s connected devices with a spotlight on the AirSense 11 CPAP machine. Their story continues from our previous story #5 about the N30i sleep apnea mask.

Justin has an honours degree from UTS and has a 30-year-professional career behind him. He is a strategic design and product development innovator and leader with a track record of delivering successful award-winning products to Australian and International markets. He joined ResMed in 2008 and is a crucial member of Research and Development. Before ResMed, Justin spent several years at Electrolux in Senior and Management Design roles. He’s also worked in Consulting and Manufacturing roles on projects as diverse as retail design, packaging, medical and the exterior and interior design of trains for Australian & international transport networks – including the Hong Kong MTRC and the NSW State Rail Millennium train.

Rowan is an alumnus of the UNSW Industrial Design Honours Program (2015). He began his career as a Furniture Designer, designing furniture for the hospitality sector at Karkas. Then, he moved on to Prototype Commercial Furniture. After two years in the furniture industry, Rowan returned to study at General Assembly to make a shift into the emerging sphere of User Experience (UX). He then worked for a MarTech start-up and joined ResMed in 2018 as a UX|UI Designer.
