While comparing the varying success of some of his past shows, Scott Porter revealed if he has received any residuals for his role on The CW’s Hart of Dixie.

“No, we don’t,” Porter, 46, confirmed in a Sunday, August 10, interview with YouTuber Joe Vulpis. “That’s the other thing is Hart of Dixie had a wide reach internationally because of Netflix, which Friday Night Lights never really did.”

Despite a resurgence on Netflix, Hart of Dixie didn’t reach the same amount of people.

“I think our peak [on Hart of Dixie] was like 1.3 million viewers like ever. People have come to find that show and they will rewatch it like you watch Friends. Because it’s just easy,” Porter explained. “It’s easy to watch and that’s a show I’m really, really proud to have been a part of too. Streaming helped in the reach of that show but I don’t know that as many people find it for the first time.”

Hart of Dixie won over audiences with its love triangles, heartwarming friendships and southern charm. Rachel Bilson led the cast of the CW series from September 2011 to March 2015, portraying lovable New York doctor turned Alabama resident Zoe Hart. Wilson Bethel (Wade Kinsella) and Scott Porter (George Tucker) played her love interests, while Cress […]

He continued: “Friday Night Lights is passed down. I feel like Hart of Dixie is a moment in time. But Ginny & Georgia is an actual certified hit. The minutes watched of this show is in the billions — and I’ve never been a part of something that big.”

Before scoring the role of Paul on Ginny & Georgia, Porter rose to stardom on Friday Night Lights. He also won Us over playing fan-favorite small town attorney George Tucker on Hart of Dixie. The CW series, which ran from 2011 to 2015, featured George in a love triangle with Zoe (Rachel Bilson) and Lemon (Jaime King) but Zoe also had a romance with Wade (Wilson Bethel).

“George was a mess — especially relationship wise,” Porter joked exclusively to Us Weekly in June. “He was bouncing all over the place. He wasn’t sure what he was looking for. He was in love with Zoe one minute. He was in love with [Wade’s ex-wife] Tansy the next. There’s nothing wrong with it. He was trying to find himself and grow into himself. So I think if you get Paul and George together, it’s going to be a disaster.”

Porter also weighed in on Us‘ pitch about Bilson, 43, being cast as a new love interest for his character on the Netflix hit, saying, “I think Paul is in such a place where he can’t even think about a relationship right now. Just the tumult that he has been through — just the high dryer cycle he’s been tumbling through right now.”

ABC/Gilles Mingasson The topic of residuals has been a hot topic, but where do the payments come from — and how much do actors actually make? “Producers and distributors [bankroll the residual payments],” a spokesperson for SAG-AFTRA shared in the latest issue of Us Weekly. “Our signatory producers are responsible for residuals when their pictures […]

He added: “His head is spinning and his career is on the line. I think Paul is going to focus up a little bit. I don’t think he’s going to have the ability, the heart or the brain power to be able to forge a new relationship.”

After Porter showed support for any and all of his HoD costars to make a cameo on Ginny & Georgia, Bethel, 41, confirmed his interest.

“If they’re there for it, I’m there for it. I love Scott so sign me up for working with him more. He’s my man and I’m so psyched for him and all the things that have been going on for him and his career and in his life,” Bethel joked to Us in July that if “the world needs another” fictional love triangle involving him and Porter then “sign me up.”

Porter, however, wanted to keep romance out of it because he realized the show doesn’t “need any more good looking guys.”

“I’m already competing with [Nathan Mitchell’s] Zion and with [Raymond Ablack’s] Joe,” Porter quipped to Us. “But I have been so fortunate to work with so many — not only incredibly gifted actors — but incredible humans. I am still friends with Rachel, still friends with Wilson. Willie and I still talk a lot to this day.”
