Lava has announced its foray into the gaming segment with the Lava Play Ultra, which has the Dimensity 7300 SoC at the helm with up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage, expandable by up to 1TB via a microSD card.
Lava says the Play Ultra runs “clean Android 15” out of the box since it has no ads, bloatware, or unwanted apps. The smartphone comes with the promise of two years of OS upgrades and three years of security updates. And, while the Play Ultra doesn’t come with any fancy features you see on other gaming smartphones, you do get a dedicated Game Booster for an improved gaming experience.
The Lava Play Ultra has a 6.67″ FullHD+ 120Hz AMOLED display on the front with 1,000 nits of peak brightness. The display also has a centered punch hole for the 13MP selfie camera and a fingerprint scanner underneath for biometric authentication.
The back of the Lava Play Ultra sports a camera island which reminds us of the iQOO 12 and iQOO 13. It features a dual camera setup comprising a 64MP primary camera (Sony IMX682) and a 5MP macro camera.
Keeping the Lava Play Ultra fueled is a 5,000 mAh battery with 33W fast charging support. Other highlights of the Lava Play Ultra include a 3.5mm headphone jack, dual stereo speakers, and an IP64 rating.
The Lava Play Ultra comes in Arctic Slate and Arctic Frost colors with two memory options – 6GB/128GB and 8GB/128GB, priced at INR14,999 ($170/€150) and INR16,499 ($190/€160), respectively.
