Alejandro Garnacho’s move to Chelsea is imminent.

The Argentine winger was at Stamford Bridge on Saturday to watch the Blues take on Fulham ahead of his expected transfer from Manchester United.

Chelsea reached an agreement with Manchester United earlier this week to sign Garnacho for £40 million, sources told Rob Dawson of ESPN. The Red Devils will also receive 10% of any future sale, according to Dawson.

Garnacho arrived in London on Friday to undergo a medical before signing a contract until 2032 with the Club World Cup champions.

The reported agreement brings an end to one of the summer’s most protracted transfer stories. Chelsea have been chasing the 21-year-old for months, and reportedly opened negotiations with a £25-million offer. Manchester United’s initial plan was to reject any bids below their £50-million valuation, but they eventually accepted Chelsea’s improved terms.

Garnacho is one of several Manchester United players who was told by Ruben Amorim to look for another club this summer. A transfer always seemed likely after Garnacho was critical of Amorim for leaving him out of the starting lineup for last season’s Europa League final loss to Tottenham.

Garnacho, who came through Manchester United’s academy, made 144 senior appearances for the club, scoring 26 goals.
