A staple at the gym or community spaces, lockers are now found in corporate environments, allowing employees on hybrid schedules to keep their personal belongings tucked away. Yet most units are hardly stylish, often with unsightly elements that detract from the overall aesthetic.

German furniture manufacturer gumpo tapped the duo of Munich-based studio Relvãokellermann to design smart Lockers that combine utility and contemporary styling. “We were inspired by the idea of blending technology with furniture,” says Gerhardt Kellermann, co-founder of Relvãokellermann. “The goal was to create a solution that hides the technical components while still working as a highly practical and elegant system.”

The compartments utilize Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology, which ensures that only authorized users can access the units for maximum security. And for individuals, they are still easy to use. By simply waving a key card near the reader each locker can be opened and closed within seconds. This provides convenient touchless entry – no metal keys are needed. It is also a hygienic storage alternative that is ideal for high-traffic workplaces, healthcare facilities, and education settings.

The anodized aluminum profiles form a grid that has a modern, streamlined look. Available in a range of colors, from a powdery pink to pure white, these lockers complement any decor or company branding. An optical signal generated by an LED guides light to the front of the locker door, so fittings or locks no longer detract from clear lines.

Installed locks are available as battery-powered or hard-wired versions, with cables routed via the plinth. Wired systems can be managed centrally, equipped with operator terminals. Every compartment has its own power supply, so mobile devices are easily charged when stored. Removable panels, made with plastic or a veneer coating, keep hardware within reach at all times.

Available in various heights and widths, the lockers can also be integrated into existing systems with extensive renovation, offering versatile and tailored options that the designers intended. “The lockers are customizable, and can be adapted to harmonize with the surrounding interior,” notes Ana Relvão, Relvãokellermann co-founder. “They have a clean, refined appearance, and at the same time, they offer full functionality.”
