While Wacom is known for its professional drawing tablets that need to be connected to a PC, casual artists or students are probably better served by something a little more portable. That’s where the Wacom MovinkPad 11 comes in. The tablet is Android-powered and built for those who want to draw when they’re not at their desk.
Unlike other modern tablets, the MovinkPad 11 is designed specifically to put drawing features first. To that end, it has an 11.45-inch display with a 2,200 x 1,440 resolution that is covered with anti-glare glass to make drawings look and feel a little more natural. The screen leverages OLED technology for realistic blacks and high contrast.
While many modern tablets have small bezels around the display, this can make it harder to hold a tablet when you’re doing something like drawing. The display still goes relatively close to the edge of the tablet, but with those thicker bezels, illustrators might find it easier to grip than something like an iPad Pro.
The tablet also comes with the Wacom Pro Pen 3, which is a customizable stylus that supports 8,192 pressure levels and the ability to tilt up to 60 degrees. For those who don’t like the Pro Pen 3, the tablet also supports third-party styluses.
Because the tablet runs Android, it supports many modern illustration and drawing apps that can be downloaded from the Google Play Store. Additionally, the Wacom Canvas app comes pre-installed.
The Wacom MovinkPad 11 is priced at $449 – certainly not the cheapest option, but reasonable when you factor in its advanced display technology and the included Pro Pen 3, which alone retails for $130.
