Wilfort Ferdinand executed

On Tuesday, September 16, 2025, Wilfort Ferdinand, alias “Ti Will,” the former influential member of the 2004 Resistance Front who precipitated the departure of former President Jean-Bertrand Aristide, was fatally shot several times near the locality of Canal Bois (north of Gonaïves) while in his vehicle. This execution “could” be linked to a land conflict pending the official conclusions of the investigation.

Quebec : AÉHUL Scholarship Recipients

Yanny Edvard Lafleur and Ruth Dorléan are the two recipients of the Haitian Students Association of Laval University (AÉHUL) scholarship. This scholarship for excellence and involvement, now in its third year, is the only scholarship dedicated exclusively to Haitian students at Laval University.

Labodrie Massacre: CPT Reaction

The Presidential Transitional Council (CPT) expresses its deep outrage following the barbaric acts perpetrated last week in the commune of Cabaret by heavily armed individuals. The Council vehemently condemns these acts of violence, which cost the lives of more than forty citizens, executed with appalling cruelty. In these particularly painful circumstances, the CPT extends its condolences to the bereaved families and to all the residents of Labodrie. It expresses its solidarity with all the direct and indirect victims of this tragedy, whose homes were looted, businesses devastated, and property stolen.

Abinader to meet with Rubio on Haiti

President Luis Abinader announced that he will meet with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio next week to discuss the Donald Trump administration’s “new vision” on how to address the insecurity and disruption of all aspects of Haitian activities caused by armed gangs. He reiterated that for the Dominican Republic, the Haitian issue is “fundamental” to its foreign policy. “We cannot be absent from these discussions in New York, during the United Nations General Assembly.”
