A pine-scented breeze blowing through the streets of downtown Minneapolis can mean only one thing: The trees are back. The Minnesota Timberwolves revealed that they will reintroduce the “Black Trees” uniform and court design for their 2025-2026 season.

Tiny green trees have long dotted Wolves jerseys, and even reappeared a few years ago, but the black version of the jerseys are holy grails of Minnesota apparel. They were synonymous with the Kevin Garnett era of Timberwolves basketball, the most successful point in franchise history until recently.

The Black Trees returned in the 2018-2019 season, and the Wolves wore them for the most heart-warming moment of that year, when Derrick Rose, whose ACL injury in 2012 derailed his MVP career, turned back the clock and dropped 50 points to beat the Utah Jazz.

Now, they return for more moments as a Classic Edition uniform and court to celebrate Wolves history, their fans, and the Twin Cities.

The team won’t hide the trees away, either. They’ll wear the jerseys in 28 games, including 21 at home. The uniform and court will make their season debut in the Wolves’ home opener on October 26, when the Indiana Pacers come to town, and they’ll be worn on other dates too.

The court released in tandem with this jersey will replicate the team’s iconic ’90s parquet floor, complete with the original howling wolf in the center.

The franchise has released an e-zine to tell the story of this retro jersey. The collection will go on sale in the coming weeks—get notified when the drop happens.
